Finding American made items can often be a difficult task. Many items are today manufactured abroad, not in the United States. With the fact that 30 million jobs have been lost in last decade, rising unemployment, and an economy still struggling it's never been more important to investigate ways to keep money in the domestic market. This is why the made in the USA products directory is extremely important.

Consumers will find everything from clothing, eyeglasses, and other personal items to residential household, lawn and garden supplies, furniture, automobiles, and boats, as well as a wide variety of other items. Industrial woodworking, milling, and a list of manufacturers on almost any product can be found. Buying from domestic manufacturers also means keeping jobs at home, and building up a struggling economy.

When considering that 5.5 million jobs in manufacturing have evaporated, just over a ten year time span, its no wonder the economy is struggling. Considering that with any one job are five other jobs lost associated with manufacturing is a sobering thought. The positive side is that when consumers buy American workers are put back to work, and jobs are saved.

Another consideration is stimulation of the economy. When buying domestic consumers are investing in the economy by putting back into the American economy. Workers who make products need to be paid, and part of the cost of merchandise is the cost of labor. When wages are paid, workers spend wages in their communities. Domestic products mean American workers are spending money in American communities.

Not only that, but American laws can often be vastly different from foreign laws. For instance, environmental and human rights are almost nonexistent in some foreign countries. This makes upholding abuses to workers or damage to foreign soil, water and air next to impossible. Buying domestic means consumers are assured American laws are upheld.

Labor laws in the United States also prevent employees from being forced to work long hours for little pay, and prohibit the use of child labor. The same is not true in many foreign countries, and when excessive use of children or forced hours of labor is utilized there is often no recourse for workers. When American products are purchased consumers are assured they are promoting healthy environments and fair labor for all.

Domestic products also ensure small businesses can compete in the marketplace. The cost of shipping, import and export, and customs fees can be more than many small businesses can afford in the long term. This issue alone has put many small businesses completely out of business.

For these reasons and more when buying merchandise take a look at the made in the USA products directory. Consumers are guaranteed quality merchandise, and they also contributing to stimulating the economy and saving jobs. Environmental and labor practices are also upheld, and consumers are guaranteed an economy that will recover and prosper long into the future.
